EDGES 2
The edges are the only places
She’s allowed to creep.
She creeps up to the edge sometimes,
Just inside the lines.
She stops, stilling the shuffling noise of the edge,
And listens for the sound of elsewhere.
(The pain of the edge draws on the sound of elsewhere)
Impatient with her pause, the edges press
Hard against her with their claws,
Jealous of her space, they push her
To keep up the pace.
